Anpanman is a superhero, who lets the weak or hungry eat part of his bean-jam-bun (anpan) head when they call him (he has great hearing and can hear anyone in the world), and can deliver a mighty an-punch or an-kick to his mortal enemy “baikin man” (bacteria man). The creator came up with Anpanman, apparently after starving in WWII and dreaming of bean jam buns. Anpanman’s weakness? Water or moistness. When his head gets wet, he gets weak. But never fear, Uncle Jam will bake him a new head in no time. We watched this show so many times with our daughters that I can sing the songs by heart.
